Gatsby's character changes from a character of mystery and awe-inspiring. He was a man that everyone talked about or at least guessed about. Until the narrator became his close friend, no one knew his whole story. He was the talk of the town but that was before Nick actually became good friends with him. Nick saw that Gatsby was a man who is mysterious at first but really is kind of a fake. He has connections with the New York mob which where he got a lot of his money. This is somewhat of a adventurous way of getting money, but the honesty in him had distance from him.
He later became a shallow person who really only cared about how he was going to win back Daisy and his past. Even though both Daisy and himself loved each other, they did not know what was best for them and their friends when they decided for Daisy to leave her husband, Tom, for Gatsby. They just wanted themselves to be happy and not the others that they had become friends with. We already knew that Daisy was a fool but now Gatsby joins the picture in that same way as Daisy has come. He now only cares about how he can get Daisy away without Tom getting in the way. Gatsby turned into a self- centered pig who has deserved to die.

  1. Luke I agree with you that Gatsby was the talk in all of the gossip in town. I think it was very unfortunate for him that people spread so many malicious and false rumors about him.
